Although I realize that there have been many devices prior to the iPhone and iPod Touch that have integrated wireless Internet connectivity, Apple definitely made a serious advance with their mobile Safari browser. The ease of use and overall experience is incredible!

Before this device, very rarely did I feel inclined to browse the Internet on a small hand-held device. The screen didn’t have the real estate to make it worthwhile, and the experience was simply horrid, slow, and cumbersome.

Apple’s innovations using touch screen functionalities such as multi-touch, tap to zoom, and screen scrolling, turned the same pocket-sized screen into a much more useful and functional experience. Websites as you see them on your Desktop computer are essentially the SAME thing you get on this device. The touch screen innovations, and “like the real thing” interpretation are what make it a manageable experience on a small screen.

I find it incredible! Where many hardware/software developers ran into a dead-ended innovation, Apple saw the light and pushed the whole idea a BIG step further. This new way of looking at handheld computing has initiated a mass exodus of new websites and movements to harness the micro web users.

Although I may not agree with some of the ways Apple operates, their innovations and creativity continue to expand the boundaries, and inspire me!
